Let the prayers within my heart unfold without wrinkle or blemish, Lord. There exists a hunger in the soul which only You can satisfy. On my own, I forage for the food of righteousness in the wrong places. The salvation you offer, which is a gift for the soul, cannot be hunted like prey. There exists a thirst within the heart which makes every thought parched and cracked by the heat of selfish inclination. Only the living water of Your presence can saturate the dry ground and make holiness blossom within the mind. Let truth divine and glorious be the fragrance of my words as filtered through the fingers of the Lord. Even a single drop of Your grace enables me to grow into the original design You destined for my life, God. Forgive me for leaning away from the sun of conviction because I fear being scorched. Your Son gives life and nourishment to budding faith. The shadows of deception may allure me with the promise of shady comfort, but the darkness does not sustain growth. Bring my heart and soul back into the light, Lord Jesus. Help me not to shrink away from the sting of conviction. Instead, keep me standing tall, open and ready to receive the cleansing rain which is sure to come after confession. The prayers of my soul are no secret to You, my Lord. My desires are Yours to develop and nourish. Take me as I am but make me what You designed me to be. Under the Word of the Lord set down in Isaiah 50:4 and the authority of Christ, I come to the altar in prayer.

The Lord God has given me the tongue of those who are taught, that I may know how to sustain with a word him who is weary. Morning by morning He awakens; He awakens my ear to hear as those who are taught.
