Lord, the seeds of mischief were in my heart before I even drew my first breath. Watered with selfishness, pride, and discontent, it was inevitable that such seeds would sprout and grow into a garden of sin. Thankfully, Your mighty hands are skilled enough to weed out my heart with precision and grace. Pull up every contrary inclination, Lord Jesus, until my heart grants You more room to plant the truth. Draw the roots of faith deep until they drink deeply from the Living Water only available from Christ my King. With blossoms of humility, let the senses of my soul be tantalized by teachability. Increase my desire to learn, Lord God. Take away the sown apathy that has come to me because of cultural preferences. Grant me a godly desire that cultivates the soil of my heart with goodness and peace. Where once my heart was the source of defilement, now it is Your work in progress. Create in Your servant a restored garden, Lord Jesus, despite spiritual neglect which has transformed it into a wild jungle of insubordination. I yield to Your pruning. I submit to the plow of Your Spirit as I consider my original sinfulness and natural inclination to evil. Only You can make me good again, Jesus. I turn over the soil of my heart to Your capable, gardening hands. Under the Word of truth found in Luke 13:18-19 and the authority of Christ, my King, I bow in adoring prayer.
