Today’s Prayer

Lord God, empty me of myself so that I can be more completely Yours. I abhor the stains of selfishness that discolor my heart with prejudice, misunderstanding, self-righteousness, and carnal desire. Bring me into close communion with You so that the Word of the Lord becomes more deeply embedded into the fabric of my soul. I want to tremble at Your truth, Lord Jesus. Falling down before You at the revelation of my iniquity, I am grateful that Your blanket of grace covers me so thoroughly. Your righteousness cleanses me and equips me for the journey heavenward. I invite You in the Spirit’s power to take me down so that You can bring me upward. Only You can ready Your servant to take the blessing of grace and share it with others. Only by loving in Your Spirit can I deal effectively and righteously with those You bring into my path. Adorn the garden of my rebellious heart with the blossoming fragrance of Christ. Season the ordinary seasons of life with the spice of hopeful anticipation in the knowledge that You use all things for good. So whether I work or struggle, pray or praise, wallow or worship, season it all with the saltiness of eternal salvation available to me through faith in Christ. The sweetest fellowship of heaven belongs to those humbled by You. Deny me not the blessing of Your nearness, Lord. For even Your discipline is intended for my good. Jesus, I renounce all the riches of this world, declaring the poverty of my spirit because to such belong Your Kingdom. The treasure of Your salvation is immeasurable in value. The wrath of Your Word is unfathomable. May I remain humble enough to receive all You offer, Jesus, not to boast but because You deserve to be glorified. Whatever crown I gain in life, I gladly cast at Your feet in death. Under the mighty Word of the Lord in Galatians 6:14 and the authority of Christ, I bow in adoring prayer.

But far be it from me to boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.
