Today’s Prayer

Where can I go when distress suffocates my soul? It is You alone, Jesus, who remedies my soul ailments with holy breath and sanctifying truth. My sorrowful heart can be restored to gladness because my Savior rescues me from calamity. As a farmer delights in the abundance of his harvest Lord, Your servant delights to feel Your presence and petition You with prayers many and intimate. Your faithfulness has become like seeds pushed down in my heart, producing a blossom of faith that abundantly shares the fragrance of Christ. I gratefully adore You, Lord, knowing that You are nearer than breath. Even Your silence is loud with love if only I take a moment to listen. The reach of Your mighty arm never fails to astound me. There is no pit deep enough that I could fall out of Your reach. I lift my hand to You, Lord Jesus, as my prayer is set like incense on Your altar. I beseech You for the powerful intercession that You delight to give me. May the influence of my soul remain conformed to Your will. Pour down Your intervention in this faltering world, Lord. Surely You have carried our infirmities. You have lifted the burdens and fixed the broken. In following You, I am led to the high and holy hill where I find my exceeding joy. This is my solace in times of distress – that You are my God and You are faithful. Under the blessing of the Word set down in Isaiah 25:1 and the authority of Christ, I bow in adoring prayers of gratitude.

Yahweh, You are my God. I will exalt You! I will praise Your Name, for You have done wonderful things, things planned long ago, in complete faithfulness and truth.
