Today’s Prayer

When my soul melts within me because the fires of adversity are turned up too high, it is then that Your comfort, deep and abiding, finds me, Lord Jesus. Your mercy sustains me despite my infirmities. Your grace is a soothing balm to my wounded soul. Though my troubles be grievous, the deep waters of discouragement can be used for good as Your Spirit blows over them, creating waves to move me in the direction of Your will. Be not far from me, Lord. When my waxing heart melts, only You can make use of its suppleness to shape it into Your likeness. For You are not a Savior unacquainted with grief. How humbly I adore You, my King. The inward anguish You endured is far more than the darkest night of my soul. How faithful and personal is my High Priest in His awareness of humanity’s woes. Let despair not readily spring from a misperception of Your love’s withdrawal. Though I may not feel it through the thickness of negativity and whispers of condemnation, I have no doubt of its reality when I kneel before the cross. Your precious sympathies, Jesus, drown away my sorrows in the ocean of salvation. Like the tide, Your love comes in strong and forever to drive away my sin and bring eternal consolation upon the beach of my soul. Wash out my earthly concerns and lift me up on the mighty waves of virtue, Lord Jesus. Under the Word of truth set down in John 1:12-13 and the authority of Christ, I pray.

But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become God’s children, to those who believe in His Name: who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
John 1:12-13, WEB
