Today’s Prayer

Lord, the enemy often casts water on the sparks of faith kindled within me when I soak up the blessed truth set down in Your Holy Word. Let doubt not prevail where hope is growing. Gather Your beloved beneath the wings of Your mercy, Lord. Whatever corruption still taints my heart, Your power to remove it prevails when I trust in You. Thankfully, You know my heart better than I know it myself, Jesus. I trust Your assessment over my own. Like Peter, I may confess undying faithfulness to You only to find out that at the first test of my fidelity, carnal impulses corrupt professed loyalty, revealing the weakness which the enemy delights to exploit. So let me not think more highly of myself than I ought to. You know me truly, Lord Jesus. The fires of my faith are fully dependent on the divine sparks catching the embers of belief so that the wind of the Spirit can fan them into flame. How glorious is Your grace, Lord. Even when my weaknesses are a source of consistent provocation, Your grace never fails me. Under the truth of the Word set down in Romans 12:3 and the authority of Christ, I bow in humble prayer.

For I say through the grace that was given me, to every man who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think reasonably, as God has apportioned to each person a measure of faith.
Romans 12:3, WEB
