Today’s Prayer

Set up a blessed boundary around my words and my actions. Let my life become a territory of holiness that is fitting for one set apart as an ambassador for Christ. There is a real and present danger that my own imperfections become a stumbling block for others who are as yet undecided about You, Jesus. Only You can guard me from such a foible as that. Where my inclination leans toward meanness, Lord, remind me to choose kindness. Empower me to turn the other cheek when needlessly assaulted by those not living to Your standards because they are not capable of doing so. Where judgment wants to rear up like a mighty Goliath, remind me that those who do not know You will only recognize You by love. Where circumstances overwhelm and beckon chaotic response, infuse me with the peace that is Yours to give. A peace that does not come from this world, but will make this world take notice and arouse curiosity of a divine nature. Even when sorrow perplexes the most basic of my human emotion, Lord Jesus, undergird it with joy that glows hopeful in the midst of darkness. I loathe the thought that I might become a stumbling block to others who seek You but remain at a distance. Let my walk and my life not be so frightening that others do not want to draw near to You. Use me as Your vessel of invitation, Lord. Live Your life through me, shaping my soul along the way to resemble more the corner stone that You are and less the stumbling block that I have a tendency to be. Under the blessed truth and solemn warning of the Holy Word in Matthew 18:6 and the authority of Christ, I bow in prayer.

Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him if a huge millstone were hung around his neck and that he were sunk in the depths of the sea.
Matthew 18:6, WEB
