Today’s Prayer

Do I have a character that can bear holy inspection, Lord? Can I stand beneath the light of Your scrutiny without blemish? My soul is grateful for Your covering, Jesus. My heart is humbled by the constancy of Your instructional shaping that makes my character more like Yours everyday. Father, give me wisdom that comes in the wake of awe-inspired fear of You. Shed illumination into the dark recesses of my mind and conscience. Let no secret desires turn into monstrous shadows that eclipse the light of truth. Whatever my condition when I come to You, I rest assured that You will not turn the believing soul away. I find comfort knowing that the work You have begun will be completed. Grant me a faithful countenance that seeks Your will above all else. Wake my sleepy soul to eternal promises when life feels empty and circumstance leaves me alone in the battles. May Your investment in me not be in vain, Lord Jesus. Show me the next step. Mold me toward Your shapely perfection. Chisel my rough edges until this hardened heart becomes clay in Your hands. When darkness abounds, turn my eyes to the light. Take me as I am Jesus, but do not leave me there. Under the blessed Word of God set down in Psalm 139:7-10 and the authority of my Savior Christ Jesus, I bow in prayer.

Where could I go from Your Spirit?
Or where could I flee from Your presence?
If I ascend up into heaven, You are there.
If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, You are there!
If I take the wings of the dawn,
and settle in the uttermost parts of the sea,
even there Your hand will lead me,
and Your right hand will hold me.
Psalm 139:7-10, WEB
