Today’s Prayer

Let me delight in communion with You, Lord. Snap the chain that keeps me bound to fleshly instinct when I was designed by You to soar on the heights of the Spirit. Show me how to acquire the benefit to my soul of ascending far and away above the evil in this world. The deceitfulness of cultural values are designed to choke out the good within me. Keep me afloat on Your promises, Lord God, so that I am not dragged down by fretful ponderings or despondent ruminations or any other vices that may lead me to become proud and carnal while calling myself a child of God. Cut down the briers and thorns of sin in my life. Whatever separates me from You prevents the heavenly seed You have sown with painstaking accuracy of divine grace and love from taking root and blossoming to the glory of Your Name. Communion with You, basking in Your presence, is the sharp sickle that cuts down all that is not welcome in Your garden, Lord. Let my soul be the holy place of cultivation as Your Spirit’s dew and Your love’s rain brings the barren ground back to life. May my heart breathe the virgin air of truth as it wafts down through Your Word. Keep Your servant from growing stagnant in faith, Lord. Take me out of the valley of selfish perspective and lead me to the heights of a heavenly view. My soul delights to inhale Your Spirit as I leave the marshes of carnal living to commune with my God in order to gain nobler thoughts and a virtuous perspective. Blessed is the Name and Presence of my Lord and Savior. Under the Word graciously given in 1 Peter 1:3-5 and the authority of Christ Jesus, I come to You in prayer.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to His great mercy, He has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
1 Peter 1:3-5, ESV
