Today’s Prayer

Lord, You are my anchor of grace and consolation. You are my source of life and love. Forever is Your domain. Eternal is the Kingdom to which Your chosen ones belong. Remind me how fleeting this temporal life is, Lord. Teach me to make the most of these evil days by doing the good Your Spirit empowers me to do. Burn the sacred fire of faith within my soul like incense on the altar. Let it give light and fragrance to a dark and putrid world. My hope wavers at times, Lord. I see sin in its worst colors and wonder if the masterpiece of Your creation will ever be restored. How we have tainted the majesty of all You have done! Yet Your forgiveness is the one eraser that can give a single soul a new canvas. Lord, may the brushstrokes of Your grace and mercy color my life, my speech, my thoughts. Let me dwell on who You are and what I can be in You. Your righteousness is my companion and guide. Your glory is my aim. Subdue my heart with Your love despite its rebellious tenacity. It isn’t enough to let go of the toxicity lingering within me. I need to give it to You by laying it upon the altar. I trust Your justice, Lord. I release what holds me back and what I erroneously cling to. If I fall because of it, I know I will be caught up in Your strong arms. You are my refuge of grace and consolation. Under the majesty of the Word in Ephesians 5:15-17 and the authority of Christ, I bow in prayer.

Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.
Ephesians 5:15-17, NIV
