Spark the fires of faith in my heart, Lord. Fear has no power to douse the flames of true belief. Neither the clamor of thievery nor the shriek of disease can overcome the power of Your love. This world is one of death and sorrow, but in Christ, we have been given life and joy in abundance. Yours is no fancy appearance that dazzles temporarily. Your promise is eternal and everlasting. Let me cling to that when the circumstances of life appear shaky and uncertain. My faith in You is not misplaced. I do not have to be afraid because You are my protector and defender. Through the lonely hours when doubt stalks my heart, Your Word assures me of truth. When sleepless worry plagues my mind, Your presence shields me from the onslaught of despair. My times are in Your hands. Nothing happens that has not been softened through the hands of my Lord. Every trial is under Your control. Darkness is not dark to You. Those called by Your Name need not fear the power of the world. Because I rest in You, my Savior, my guilty conscience is relieved of its relentless pressure by the mercy that overshadows my sin. Thank You, Lord, for the relentless grace You show from the cross. May I not vex the Holy Spirit by distrusting Your sovereignty. Cast down my dismal forebodings and groundless apprehensions as You remove the night shadows of my soul. Under the precious treasure gleaming from Your Word in Ephesians 1:3-4 and the authority of Christ Jesus, I approach the altar in prayer.
