My depressed spirit delights to behold the blessed and abiding light of my Savior. The genial warmth of truth dissolves the icy frost of deceit that leaves many a heart frozen. Slumbering souls awaken from the lethargic existence when Christ has come to offer invitation. Lift up my heart, Lord, as the delicious fragrance of grateful adoration brings me the comforting assurance of peace. Tune my soul’s hearing to the chorus songs of heaven. You are holy, Lord God Almighty. My spirit seeks communion with the beloved. In the rendezvous of prayer, my sordid neutrality is bent toward holiness. Bring me away from former associations of a carnal nature, Lord Jesus. Take me into the refuge of Your eternal Kingdom where hope makes the atmosphere both pleasant and serene. Refresh me with spiritual renewal that improves our discourse, Lord. Illumine that which remains shadowed within Your servant. Help me respond to Your invitational love that binds me to the divine in the power of grace. The heavenlies beckon to the cold and apathetic through the warm breeze of the Spirit that blows from the horizon of hope. Quicken me to Your touch, Lord. Lift me above the circumstantial clouds that block my view of Your perfect promises. I am heartily weary of living at a distance from You. Bring me in closer to Your heart where my home truly is. Under the watchful Word of truth in Psalm 40:1-4 and the authority of Christ Jesus, I approach the altar in prayerful worship.

I waited patiently for the Lord;
    He turned to me and heard my cry.
He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
    out of the mud and mire;
He set my feet on a rock
    and gave me a firm place to stand.
He put a new song in my mouth,
