Today’s Prayer

Oh my soul, be reminded that you are severed from outer circumstances. The breath of the Lord is the spirit that supplies oxygen to hope. Resilience is the blessed gift of walking in that spirit. When night falls through trial and tribulation, the light of Christ shines all the brighter. Though my financial stability quakes, Jesus, You are the One who keeps me firm. When the pillars of emotion are threatening to tumble beneath the pressure, Your presence keeps me calm and quiets the anxious storm. Death, with its haunting threat and terrible influence, has its boast quieted from the cross. Evil cannot suspend the glorious praise that is Your due, Lord. Let tribulation come. It only makes the worship sweeter and the praise more intense. These temporal joys will one day be melted in eternal bliss. My confidence is in You, Lord. My comfort and strength are drawn from the blessed holiness of Your truth. Though I can be impoverished, You are my generous provider. Soul, do not fear poverty. Jesus is enough. When my body fails me, the love of the Lord does not. Though I languish and battle in pain, You give me strength to take up my weapon of prayer. Make my bed a holy place where I can meet with You even in the bowels of infirmity. Use the pain to remove the dross, Lord. When my eyes falter, be my light. When my ears dull, amplify Your voice. When all outward causes for rejoicing are removed, let my soul rejoice still. Blessed soul, weary heart, be exceedingly glad. The Lord is your Savior. Under the praising Word of Psalm 103:1-5 and the authority of Christ, I bow in prayer.

Praise the Lord, my soul;
    all my inmost being, praise His holy name.
Praise the Lord, my soul,
    and forget not all His benefits—
who forgives all your sins
    and heals all your diseases,
who redeems your life from the pit
    and crowns you with love and compassion,
who satisfies your desires with good things
    so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
Psalm 103:1-5, NIV
