Root me, Lord Jesus, in the grace of Your eternal salvation. Your promises ring true through the barriers of time. Inflate my faith until belief is the firm foundation upon which my heart scaffolding is constructed. Teach me what it is to be full of the Spirit. Reveal to me the consistency of Your faithfulness in the face of my failure. Simplify whatever I make too complicated, Father. Shape me with the chisel of love. Extend the core of my faith with an intensity that influences and captures those wayward thoughts. I am a poor judge of myself, Lord. Only You can mark me with a measure of humility. I am nothing without my Savior. Jesus, draw Your servant to live a life of abiding which seeks You daily in prayer’s intimate bond. It is You who enables me to grow, both in knowledge and in character. Even just a taste of the heavenly vintage leaves those who truly follow You wanting more of You. Take the panting soul, Lord, and lead them to the water that never runs dry. How I long to be not so easily satisfied but to constantly be desiring the deeper draughts of eternal love. Absence from You, Lord Jesus, is deplorable and excruciating to think about. It is Your nearness that brings heaven into my midst. So let Your beloved never be content with mere acquaintance through religious observance. Stoke the fires of devotion until faith flames like the beacon You designed it to be. Under the canopied blessing of the Word in Psalm 42:1-2 and the authority of Christ Jesus, I come to the altar in prayer.
