Today’s Prayer

Lord Almighty, stir up the contents of my heart so that I accurately view this world through Your eyes, not my own. Lead me, Spirit of the Living God, to understand the command to be kind to everyone. The gospel is far more effective when delivered on the wings of persuasion instead of threat. Those I perceive as enemies of God are really victims of Your enemy, the evil one. Give me strength to love the unlovable and serve the hostile just as You showed by example when You walked among us, Jesus. For I was Your enemy, Lord. By Your grace, You transformed me, using the chisel of love not condemnation. Though we fight a cultural war of resistance to all things godly Lord, remind me how to use the weapons of gentleness and compassion to snatch ground from the enemy in the way he does not understand. Your Spirit frees the captive, Lord. Inspire me as Your ambassador as much as I am Your warrior. Truth is worth fighting for. Souls are the precious treasure that belong in Your Kingdom. Canopy my words and deeds with a covering of humility that doesn’t drive people toward defense as judgmental approaches often do. Sift through my ow heart, Lord, so that I am postured toward love and not toward proving myself and my beliefs. Truly, Yours is the only way, Jesus. Show me when and where I misstep. Under the blessed assurance of Your Word set down in Ephesians 4:32 and the authority of Christ, I bow in prayer.

Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.
Ephesians 4:32, NLT
