Today’s Prayer

Lord, the clouds of sin and transgression are many and are variegated. Gray one day and black another, they continually block the light from above. When they have reached their full capacity, it is not rain that falls from their pregnant folds, but fiery sulfur that scorches the soul and sends even the strongest person into hiding. But let us not hide from the One who controls the breath of the Spirit. Let us not take cover from the One who exists beyond the clouds. Surely, You can blow away the heinous canopy of my iniquity, Lord. You can move the clouds out of my life so that the light shines down to illuminate the darkness. How masterfully gracious is Your work on the cross. When the earth shook and rain came down, You effectively soothed the burns of my soul. You put out the fires within me that scarred and tortured my existence. On that day of clouded darkness, hope was being born, seeding the clouds of my life with faith so that showers of mercy could water the soil of my heart. When I look up and see only clouds in my life, now I also see the glorious shards of light through the eyes of faith breaking through those clouds. Jesus, keep perfecting Your beloved. Move the clouds that inevitably roll in. Clouds of wrong desire and selfishness. Clouds of anger and pretense. Blow it all away Lord Jesus until all that shines in my life is the light of Your love and grace. Under the billowing Word in Matthew 26:64 and the authority of Christ, I bow in prayer.

“But I say to all of you: From now on you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.”
Matthew 26:64, NIV
