Today’s Prayer

Wake up my soul and see the goodness of the Lord. Cease Your sleepy laments and praise the hands that formed you. The Lord is the everlasting Giver, a blesser of immeasurable proportion. Where there is an empty cup, the oil of His grace is generously poured. In the dark shadows of troubled times, Jesus is the light that shines the way. For the hungry soul, He is the manna constantly falling from heaven for sustenance. In the barren ages of history, He is the rock from whom the rivers of life flow. Grace becomes the fat raindrops wetting cracked and brittle ground. A river of mercy winds its way across time, leading to the wellspring of love that never runs dry. His heart is endlessly full of grace. His affections for His people are incorruptible. To pluck the fruit of His Spirit each day is made possible because He pulls the branch down so we can reach it. To knock upon His door is to be blessed. To ask of Him is to receive. Every morning His mercy is renewed and His grace is sufficient when the sun goes down at the end of the day. Let time march forward. As long as those who belong to Him keep rhythm with His marching heart, the way will always be clear. Carry the banner of love high, all those called by the Name of the Lord. Trust in His holy favor and grant Him ceaseless praise. Beneath the blessed Word of the Lord found in Psalm 146:1-2, 6-8 and the authority of Christ, I worship in prayer.

Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord, my soul. I will praise the Lord all my life;
    I will sing praise to my God as long as I live. He is the Maker of heaven and earth,
    the sea, and everything in them—
    He remains faithful forever.
He upholds the cause of the oppressed
    and gives food to the hungry.
The Lord sets prisoners free,
the Lord gives sight to the blind,
the Lord lifts up those who are bowed down,
    the Lord loves the righteous.
Psalm 146:1-2, 6-8, NIV
