Today’s Prayer

Lead Your servant beside still waters when life becomes far too noisy for quiet interludes of prayer. Let my soul forget the old ways that lead only to death. Remind me of the new, Lord Jesus, as I delight in the joy of discovery. Deliverance from wrath is Your gift given to one as undeserving as me. How astounding is your mercy, Lord. Quicken my heart with a touch of the Spirit’s power. Whatever ails my body or mind is no obstacle to Your power of healing. Doubt is chased back into the shadows by faith sublime. Anger is defanged by kindness. Sorrowful horizons are eclipsed by the joy of eternity. Fear is overturned by the perfection of love. Infirmity is rendered impotent by prayer. For even upon my bed I can still serve You. What honor is bestowed upon those called by Your Name, Lord Jesus. My Redeemer, I gladly follow You with a heart open to Your teaching. Let me live for You each day, cling to You in trouble, follow You when I am lost and honor You with each breath. Your Word is precious. Your presence is my sweetest solace in a troubling world. Under the precious reminder in Psalm 23:1-3 and the authority of Christ, I bow at the altar in prayer.

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
He leads me beside quiet waters,
He refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
for His Name’s sake.
Psalm 23:1-3, NIV
