Lord, in the power of Your Spirit’s influence, banish all self-indulging thoughts that only put distance between my heart and Yours. Let me not be immune to my tendencies toward corruption. By Your Word and Your choice I am now to be alive among the dead. Your imputed, divine life has the power to raise me up and continually transform me. May the lips that speak prayers to Your ears not turn around and speak curses among the brethren. Father, forgive my complaining inclinations. Move my grumbling heart into a realm of gratitude that shines amidst the dullest of life’s circumstances. By Your holy guidance, I can escape the delusive enticements of a worldly nature. By Your holy influence, I can illuminate the secrets and illusions that promise temporary relief not eternal solutions. Carnal security is deceptively crafty when the horizon appears grim. Lord, give me strength to trust Your sovereignty and provision. Coming before You each day, I seek to live above worldliness, the pride of life, and the vice of avarice. Enrich me with Your treasures, Lord. Your wealth displays itself in my life because I was chosen by You despite having nothing valuable to offer. The lavishness of Your grace has not been wasted on me, Lord. Help me live in response to all You have done and are doing. Under the blessed truth set down in Psalm 145:1-3 and the authority of Christ Jesus I pray.

I will exalt You, my God the King;
    I will praise Your Name for ever and ever.
