Today’s Prayer

Turn my eyes onto You, Lord Jesus. The enemy flagrantly distracts me by convincing me to regard myself and my needs more than You and Your will. His insinuations are words riddled with poison that inflate the ego and fan the flame of pride. Pride’s fires scorch the holiness that You have planted in my heart, Lord. Rid me of the stranglehold of selfish thoughts and worldly desires. Time is ever moving forward and change is inevitable. So let my own heart be altered and molded by Your divine touch. Sculpt me into Your likeness with a chisel sharper than the arrows of condemnation lobbed at me by the evil one. I shall never find comfort or assurance from anything inside myself. Only in the mirror of Your Spirit can I find the answers my soul seeks. My Savior is the tether of hope that my trembling hand clings to. Though my grip is not secure, I know that Your is, Lord. Let me rise above the clouds that filter my view of the times I am living in. Time is in Your hands. Destiny is a gift that cannot be opened unless You give me the key. Freshen my mind with the beauty of Your Word. Let not fear become a barrier between us. The sweet attraction of the cross has wooed and won my heart. No longer do I live for the deceitful earth because my face is turned upward toward the celestial heights of Your eternal inheritance. Under the blessed truth in 1 Peter 1:3-5 and the authority of Christ Jesus I bow in humble prayer.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.
1 Peter 1:3-5, NIV
