Today’s Prayer

Lord, Your Word teaches a great many things. Let my heart continually expand from the goodness of Scripture’s power. Let my soul benefit from the richness of wisdom in the Word. Your promises are trustworthy. Your foundation is reliable. Should a tempest of suffering blow my way, I will hold tightly to my anchor in the storm, Jesus – my Savior. There is a treasure of teaching tucked within every heartache; and a gem of wisdom sparkles among the darkness of difficulty. One has only to glean those things with the precious and mighty power of the Spirit. Increase my willingness to endure whatever You deem necessary for my soul’s growth and increased appreciation of salvation. Remind me daily of Your faithfulness Lord. It is both honor and privilege to travel life’s path with You as my guide. Steer me away from irreverent babble and futile arguments that lead toward godless behavior. Your truth stands as a foundation stone in my heart that reminds me I have nothing to prove. You proved everything on the cross. So let me turn from anything that stimulates unholy passion. You promised trouble in this life. You always promised rest from the trouble because You have overcome this transient world, Jesus. Truly, You are there on my worst day to brighten the darkness. You are with me in the pit of my lowest low to lift me out. Teach me a great and many things through each permitted experience in life. Under the truth of the mighty Word in Psalm 119:27-29 and the authority of Christ Jesus I pray.

Cause me to understand the way of Your precepts,
    that I may meditate on Your wonderful deeds.
My soul is weary with sorrow;
    strengthen me according to Your Word.
Keep me from deceitful ways;
    be gracious to me and teach me Your law.
Psalm 119:27-29, NIV
