Today’s Prayer

Lord, but for Your grace I would rightfully perish. But for Your mercy, I would be utterly demolished by the disease of my own soul. Do not withdraw such privileges Lord, though it is within Your right to do so. I invite Your Spirit to be active in my weary, and oftentimes wayward heart. Left to myself, I would become that which I presently loathe. White hot passion for holiness would easily cool to lukewarm sickness of soul if not for the ever-present fires of Your Spirit in my heart. The soundness of faith would become the madness of false doctrine if not for the strong anchor of Your Word holding me in place. Lord, let me not stagger with the inebriating influences of worldly temptation. Keep my steps steady in devotion, firm in focus, and steadfast in delight. Though the light shining in me is only a borrowed light from You, keep it burning bright as darkness increasingly blankets this world beneath a film of confusion. Take not Your Holy Spirit from Your people. Keep Your servant in the palm of Your hand. Water my roots with truthful rains. Hold me up when the path meanders through a dark valley. Close my heart’s mouth against murmurs that suggest ingratitude for the humbling hand You have placed firmly on my head. Keep me, Lord, as only You can. Whether in passion or lethargy, keep me walking holy toward Your light. Under the firm foundation of Isaiah 8:11-12 and the authority of Christ, I pray.

This is what the Lord says to me with His strong hand upon me, warning me not to follow the way of this people: “Do not call conspiracy everything this people calls a conspiracy; do not fear what they fear, and do not dread it.”
Isaiah 8:11-12, NIV
