Lord God Almighty, instill in Your servant an energetic zeal to accomplish the holy tasks You have set before me. Truly blessed is the one who believes the Lord will accomplish all He has promised. Enable me to embrace with mighty faith such promises no matter how enveloped in challenge and trial they may turn out to be. Entertaining slothfulness surely undermines accomplishments of zealous industry. The frigidness of doubt impinges the fruit in seasons of fervency and holy enthusiasm. Taking a step off the divine path of sanctification to follow the enticing short-cut of worldliness will only end up getting me lost in the wilderness of temptation to forsake Your promises. Lord, fatten my prayers with vulnerability and confession. May the praises I offer You not be lacking and the duties I serve You with not be obligatory. Remove the tendency to neglect spiritual matters because of earthly business. Lord, I need fresh supplies of grace from Your hand. Every famine of the soul consumes the seeds of the Spirit’s fruit. Rid me of such indifference, Father. For even when I slide backwards a way, the sure grip of Your promise never to forsake me gives my slipping soul something to cling to. You will accomplish what You have promised. In Your strength, weak knees are made to walk the narrow path. Under the Word of the Lord set down in Matthew 28:18, 20 and the authority of Christ I bow in prayer.
