Miracle-making, enemy-thwarting, path-revealing God, I bow down humbled before You. Let my own natural proclivity not tear down the hedge of sacredness salvation in You offers. Shed light on the false gods distracting me. Forgive me for wandering toward the past where I thought things might have been better. Why leave the cool, refreshing, living water You supply only to drink from the muddy waters of earthly delights? Rather, let my soul be content with the good and forsake the dangerous. You have cleansed me in the river of grace, washed me in the blood of my Savior. World pleasure has a bitter taste after drinking my fill of the love of Christ. Fellowship with You, Lord, is the greatest joy. No merriment of life can contend with the thrill of being with You. Manna from heaven, though simple and plain, is far more nourishing than the three-tiered cake of earthly delights. I look with contempt on such haughty foes and run back into the open arms of my Savior. Under the blessed truth of 1 John 2:15 and Christ’s authority, I pray.
