Today’s Prayer

Lord, let me not flatter myself with assumptions regarding the steadfastness of my faith. Your blessing threatens to make me too lofty for my own good. Pride is a subtle stalker when religion’s veil is pulled tight over the eyes. The only way I can boast of not being moved amidst the storm is if I anchor myself to the humility of the cross. Let me not grow wealthy in the comforts allotted me. Rather, let me use Your blessings to further Your Kingdom. When loss and adversity become part of the plan mapped out in the arena of heavenly authority, I implore You to use it all for the purpose of drawing me deeper into You. Bring me down from any lofty spiritual place where I might find myself. Melt away the substance of carnal security as You lead me to trust in You more fully. What a blessing of divine life it is when spiritual embarrassment leads to a new measure of humility. Let me be distressed by my own failures to glorify You, God. You have freed me in truth yet I am often easily deceived. Cast me into the depths of fire if I fail to honor You. I come to You empty, Lord, grateful that You require nothing more than holy submission. Bring me to the valley of poverty so that I may be enriched by the promises of heaven. Though my faith wavers as a result of circumstance, Your steadfast love remains my rock. Under the covering of 1 John 3:18 and the authority of Christ, I pray.

My little children, let’s not love in word only, or with the tongue only, but in deed and truth.
1 John 3:18, WEB
