Today’s Prayer

Lord, Your Word is sharper than a double-edged sword. Let it dissect me thoroughly even through my tendency is to dissect Your Word myself rather than let it dissect me. Alter my approach as I bring my reckless heart and rebellious soul before the throne. Let me not be satisfied with head knowledge when You offer heart transplant through the power of Your holy instruction. I don’t merely want to know Your love, Jesus. I want to abide in it, this enveloping power that surpasses understanding. You have made the Father known through this love. A love that transforms and defines, that lifts up the down-trodden and mends the broken people. Saturate every fiber of my being with the enormous potential built into every promise. Your Word is the rock upon which my soul’s house is built. Your Word is the anchor that steadies me when circumstantial waves buffet me on every side. Your Word is life. Enable me to listen and abide Lord Jesus. Under the canopy of Your Word in Hebrews 4:12 and the authority of Christ, I pray.

For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
Hebrews 4:12, NIV
