Today’s Prayer

Lord, let the blight of sin upon my heart not lead to a famine of the soul. Protect Your beloved from the microbial, often undetected, presence of pride or the relentlessness attack of selfishness. When stormy circumstances hit, let me not take my own way out but trust in Yours completely. Your invisible hand stirs the waters in such a way that faith becomes the boat to carry me across the tempestuous waves while You rest in the stern of my abiding vessel. In those moments when I feel as if I have gone too far or have knocked Your presence overboard in my haste to bail myself out, remind me that You can walk on water! Above the roaring wind, Your voice tells me not to be afraid. By Your wisdom and assurance, I can know for sure that there are no accidents, no mistakes that You have not ordained for Your purpose. The worst calamity is the kindest thing that can befall me if it comes according to Your will. I know the One who works all things together for His good. In Christ, I fully trust. Under the canopy of truth set down in Your Word of Mark 4:38-40 and the authority of Christ, I bow in prayer.

But He was in the stern, asleep on the cushion. And they woke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?” And He awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. He said to them, “Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?”
