Today’s Prayer

I delight to be remembered by You, God. Even when I feel far away and forgotten, let my heart cling to the promises You have set down in Your Word. Your love is everlasting, not forgetful. Your mercy lasts into eternity. Let me ever be grateful. When my soul takes counsel and finds lingering sorrow, let me place it on the altar in exchange for Your joy. Even when I am my own worst enemy, Your presence is my victory. Chase my enemies and let them not exalt over me, Lord. Route the fear shadowing the corners of my soul. Because I have You, I need not be afraid. Rouse the parts of me that have slumbered too long. Wake Your servant with Your Spirit. The foes of selfishness, pride, distress, and slothfulness are firmly and steadfastly defeated. Because I have trusted in Your love, my heart rejoices in Your salvation. Blessed be Your Name. Keep me safe beneath the canopy of Your truth alone. Under the blessed truth of Psalm 10:1, 12 and the authority of Christ, I bow in prayer.

Why, O Lord, do You stand far away?
    Why do You hide yourself in times of trouble?
Arise, O Lord; O God, lift up Your hand;
    forget not the afflicted.
Psalm 10:1, 12, ESV
