Every cry of a lost sheep does not go unheeded by the one and only Shepherd. Lord, let my praises forever reach Your ears because You did not ignore my secret laments. Your guiding light brought Your servant out of the darkness. With Your staff, You directed my steps toward the fold of holiness in a corrupt and defiled generation. When shadows darken my path, illuminate the way with Your Word of grace. Let unholy emotion not taint the sanctity of Your presence, God. Clouds of temptation loom on the horizon of glory. Let them be swiftly blown away by a gentle breeze of the Spirit. Yours is the strength and perseverance that enables me to take steps toward my eternal destiny in Christ. As I move in the direction of Your will, let Your staff and Your voice direct me to avoid the pitfalls and snares of the enemy. That which has been scattered, truly You have gathered, Lord God. No child of Yours walks alone. Even when the terrain is inhospitable, I find sustenance in desert seasons by feasting on Your Word and drinking the living water of Your presence. Use me in mighty ways to shepherd those You have placed in my flock of influence Lord so that all are brought safely into the fold of Your saving love. Increase the ways I know You, Lord Jesus. Stretch the boundary of abiding intimacy so that I have a more complete bond of holiness in Your Name. Under the measured truth of John 10:11-15 and the authority of Christ, these prayers are lifted toward heaven.
I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep. He who is a hired hand and not a shepherd, who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees, and the wolf snatches them and scatters them. He flees because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep. I am the good shepherd. I know My own and My own know Me, just as the Father knows Me and I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep.
