Teach me not to be afraid, Lord God. The dread of evil tidings does not belong in the heart of those called by Your Name. Your sovereignty is trustworthy. Beneath the canopy of Your perfect plan, a believing soul finds rest even without the accompaniment of full understanding. Let me not be distressed by the unsavory actions of the wicked. Your justice ultimately prevails. Your faithfulness is proven, Lord God. Those called by Your Name need not bow down to fear or idol worship, panic or anxiety. Within my spirit is something altogether new and holy divine. Such a living hope penetrates the storm of emotional responses that often result from the reception of unforeseen news. Lift up my heart to Heaven, Holy Spirit of the living God. Let me not become distracted by earthly concerns when eternity’s glory is at stake. There is more value in the grace I have received than I can fathom to confess. Because of that, I need not tremble in the face of wrath. Help me stand strong in the face of temptation especially when I forget all You have already shown me. I wish not to provoke You with my fears that only testify to my lack of trust. When difficulties hunt me like prey, Lord, I take refuge in Your promises. I do not run away afraid because I know that You use all things for Your good purpose. Under the powerful shadow of the Word in Psalm 27:1 and the authority of Christ, I bow in adoring prayer.
The Lord is my light and my salvation;
whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life;
of whom shall I be afraid?
Psalm 27:1, ESV

Teach me not to be afraid, Lord God. The dread of evil tidings does not belong in the heart of those called by Your Name. Your sovereignty is trustworthy. Beneath the canopy of Your perfect plan, a believing soul finds rest even without the accompaniment of full understanding–Amen!
