Today’s Prayer

My Father in heaven, soothe me with the lullaby of truth singing off the pages of Scripture. For I lift my pain like a candle in the darkness, waiting for mercy’s light to re-ignite the flame of faith within me. May my self-affirming will be silenced in the midst of Your beautiful voice of comfort, falling like a mist upon my weary soul. I long to be distanced from the petty pretensions of this life in the world. For I am prepared for a paradise through the suffering You enable me to endure. Birth within me a sense of indictment as Your Word is spoken so that truth can truly be received. Etch Your breath upon my heart. Do not let me suffocate in selfish desire. I am incomplete and utterly empty in my cluttered existence without You. Bring me back from the land of distraction that has captured me, Lord. Remove from me the focused pursuit of lesser things that have lured me with the illusion of being everything. You are what I need. You are what I desire. You are enough. Thank You, Jesus, for Your soothing presence in my every day. Under the Word of truth in 2 Corinthians 1:3-5 and the authority of Christ Jesus, I pray.

All praise to the God and Father of our Master, Jesus the Messiah! Father of all mercy! God of all healing counsel! He comes alongside us when we go through hard times, and before you know it, he brings us alongside someone else who is going through hard times so that we can be there for that person just as God was there for us. We have plenty of hard times that come from following the Messiah, but no more so than the good times of his healing comfort—we get a full measure of that, too.
