Today’s Prayer

When my spirit is exhausted, let me seek rest only in You, Lord God. How wondrous it is to survey the cross without agitation caused by a restless soul. The simplicity of such enormous love deserves more than a cursory glance which lacks reverence and devotion. Refine my thoughts with truth until worldly philosophies no longer mingle with divine revelation. Keep me from departing the core of Your gospel, making it too complex by adorning it with religious requirements. Let me not become bewitched by heresies that undermine the beauty of salvation through Christ alone. There are far too many intellectual snares that entrap those seeking knowledge over truth. Education is only profitable as long as it is bounded by Biblical truth. There is little rest to be found in philosophizing about Your presence. Keep me from lingering in areas where Your mystery does not permit me to go. Too much thinking can sometimes diminish the awe. Your Word is pure and by it You guide me with the fullness of wisdom that keeps knowledge from leading me astray. Thank You for this rest that only You can provide, Lord God. Under the Word of Matthew 11:28-29 and the authority of Christ, I bow in prayer.

“Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Matthew 11:28-29, NIV
