In times of sorrow and wretchedness, You are my joy and delight, Lord God. The eternal horizon stretches long and bright over the shadows of adversity. Even if my lot is reserved for mourning, I will ever praise You. Let not my misunderstanding become a veil that distorts faith. The inheritance You have granted to me is evidence of Your glory. Keep me far from receiving the bondage of fear that was an attribute of my former life before You, Jesus. Truly, I have received the Spirit of adoption and am humbled that I get to call You my Father. Work out for me the joy of salvation as it comes through the fruit of the Spirit. I know when I linger in constant grief that You are my divine comforter. I know when my heart is heavy that You can lift and shoulder my burdens so that I do not carry them alone. Knit the fabric of my heart until it is tightly threaded with Your truth and Your promises. Let me see the blessing of suffering because You have given me a foretaste of heaven through the daily presence and awareness of Your nearness. Urge me onward when I grow complacent, Lord. Urge me upward when I spend too long looking down. Urge me inward when there are issues that need to be addressed and confessed. Blessed am I because You have forgiven me. Under the canopy of Your Word in 1 John 1:9 and the authority of Christ, my Savior, I bow in adoring prayer.

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
