I know the saying is not to judge a book by its cover, but the vibrant colors and intriguing design immediately caught my eye; thankfully, the story within matched the cover’s captivating allure. Intrigue becomes the downbeat of Jill Williams’ novel, Squire of Truth, from the opening page.
Her characters are so relatable that it is impossible not to be engrossed in the medieval fantasy story. Mystery pulses through the plot as Williams takes her readers on an adventure alongside the adorable Cole and the feisty Mistel. A joint love of music, a passion expressed through soaring melodies and rhythmic beats, connects the main characters on a level far deeper than their shared circumstances.
The imaginative world comes alive through vivid descriptions and poignant scenes between the characters and the surroundings. The perfectly paced narrative synchs wonderfully with character development amidst the backdrop of a sinister plot and the potential for danger.
Suspicion remains aroused until the very last chapter in this who-done-it-style mystery. This was the first book I have read by this author, but it will not be the last. I thoroughly enjoyed the story all the way through. voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
