Today’s Prayer

Father God and Creator of all that is, let those called by Your Name be thankful in this season. Because of what was accomplished on the cross, a depth of gratitude is available that was not accessible before. Your heart on display has opened facets of thankfulness previously veiled. Let us be grateful for that which we have been given and that which has been withheld. There are experiences in life that have not yet come to pass which we must be grateful for when they do, whether bringing pain in their wake or joy in their passage, the lessons they provide us are the truest of divine treasures. For every situation that shapes the soul, let us be thankful. In weakness, You provide strength. Where there is doubt, You offer faith. Sorrow is handled by divine comfort. Anguish is alleviated by remembering Your promises. In seasons of weariness, You supply an endless source of replenishment. There is much in life to be thankful for. Let us also be mindful of what we are thankful for in death. Lead us this day forward to be mindful of our blessings, fully aware of Your mercy, and, above all, grateful for Your Son, our Savior. Let us live in the light of thanksgiving. Under the canopy of the Word in Amos 5:14 and the authority of Christ, I bow in prayer.

Seek good, not evil,
    that you may live.
Then the Lord God Almighty will be with you,
just as you say He is.
Amos 14:5, NIV
