Today’s Prayer 10/17

Blessed Father in heaven, You write such beautiful stories with the lives of those called by Your Name. Yet it is so difficult for our hearts to turn the final page of a loved one’s story. A narrative that we were an important character in. Thank You for the comfort of Your presence that rests our grieving souls. May we follow You, Jesus, to a place where we can be grateful for the time we had, not bitter for the time lost, and hopeful when we will meet again those loved ones who have gone before us. Even after we grieve the loss of people from our lives, Lord, there also exists the grief in the loss of seasons of life. Help Your beloved ones to let go of the past. May the memories of yesterday not cause sorrow for the tomorrows that await. Meet Your own in the deep pain of grief no matter where it roots from. Help every child of God set an anchor down in the soil of hope provided in Christ Jesus for the best is always yet to come in You, O God of many promises. Under the precious word of truth that rests grieving hearts in Hebrews 13:8 and the authority of Christ Jesus, I set these prayers as incense upon the altar of the King.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Hebrews 13:8, WEB
