My Review

FAVORITE QUOTE:

“Part of him ached to get his hands on her and wring out every secret she hid, but another part—a thin rebellious vein that pulsed with fascination—wanted to follow this exotic creature to the ends of the earth.”

Carrie Cotten is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors to turn to. The third book in the series, The Raven, with its mysterious plot, completely won me over. In the beginning, the story pushed my imagination to its limits. A chilling depiction of the spiritual darkness overshadowing that period of Viking history haunted the opening chapters of the narrative. The strong bond between that darkness and the characters’ spiritual battles kept the story engaging while tackling difficult themes.

With a pulsing heartbeat of historical significance blending seamlessly with a wide faith arc, this book had so much to offer in terms of contemplation. The literary tapestry, spun from threads gently woven from the first two books into this amazing narrative, wrapped me in a blanket of sweet discovery. I enjoyed the plot’s surprising shocks and unpredictable flow as the themes woven through all the books shone a fresh light on familiar truths from the Bible.

A jaw-dropping ending filled with poignancy had me turning pages with eager anticipation. The stunning light of a gospel message and heart-gripping faith brightened the last half of the book in a way that fully pushed against the shadowed beginning. This wonderful adventure unfolded with a love story between two damaged individuals, capturing my heart and pulling me in. The hidden subtext of each chapter echoed with the sweet reminder that God delights in fixing what is broken. A magnificent addition to the series, I can’t wait to read the next one.
