INTERVIEW:
How long have you been writing? How many books or series have you published?
I’ve been writing for just over 13 years, but I only started publishing in January. I have a novella out and The Baron and the Ballerina will be my first full-length book (that is published).
What inspired you to write? How does your faith impact your writing?
I was first inspired to write when I was expecting our second child. We had just moved to a new state and I was very isolated and alone. We lived a long ways away from our church and only had one vehicle. My husband was a nurse and, as the new guy, had to work a lot of Sundays. So, I didn’t even have my church family to help ease my loneliness. All I had was books and the stories in my mind. They kept me company during very trying times.
My faith impacts every sentence I write. I try very hard not to judge other’s work, but I feel very strongly that what I put in my mind affects me, body and soul. Because of that, I only read and write work that is uplifting and clean. I don’t include swear words, crass language, or bedroom things. I do, however have serious topics, but I try to be sensitive and mindful in exactly what is shown.
I also include faith in my work, even though every single mentor suggested I leave it out. I was told, if you want to sell books, make it appeal to more people.
But when it came down to it, the faith threads were so natural and beautiful. They included themselves. Like a gift from God. How could I even consider taking them out?
Do you have a favorite author or book? Why is that your favorite?
I can’t do just one, sorry! Haha. I love Esther Hatch. She inspired me to write regency. I also love Shelley Shepard Gray- her Amish romances make me want to be a better person. And Lindsay Hiller’s Lauren in Pieces changed my life, just because I related so much to the main character. We share a lot of flaws, and as I read that book, I felt so much love for the main character, and it helped me love myself a little more fully.
What is your favorite genre to read/write?
Historical romance.
What do you like most about what you do? What are your biggest challenges?
I love receiving letters and notes from people who were inspired by my work. If I can touch even one heart it’s worth it.
Self doubt is the hardest thing. It feels selfish at times, to write stories instead of going and getting a more lucrative job, but I felt very guided that this is the path I’m meant to follow, and I love that it means 100% availability and flexibility for my 4 kids. Though, I have to be very aware that I don’t slip too deep into my stories, so I can keep them first in my life.
Do you have a favorite character in your most recent release?
Aunt Amelia is my favorite. She is only a blip in this story, but she has such a unique backstory that I can’t wait to share. Book 2 is already written and she is a big part of it. Then, in book 4 she gets her own love story. But don’t discount book 3, I’m itching to finish book 2 edits so I can start it.
What are you working on now? What can we expect in the future?
I have an entire series planned following the Burnham family and their friends. I’ll be writing 3 more in this series and then, if there’s interest (I hope there is) I’ve got the next 2 generations stories planned in my head. I also have 2 novellas planned, each with a multi-author series.
Do you have any fun facts to mention? (what is your go-to snack when writing/reading? Daily habits…)
I’m also a bit of an artist, so the chapter heading art in the book is drawn by me. Also, Ben’s sister Sylvie is the character who is most like me, so when she talks about unusual interests (spiders, etc.) Those are things I’ve enjoyed. God made me a curious person, and I’ve learned to accept my differences.
What would you like to say to readers? (What do you hope readers take-away from your book?)
You are loved, and God’s plan is always the best one.

Allegra Lovage will do anything to secure her daughter’s future—even marry a man she doesn’t love.
At twenty-three, the ambitious ballerina has set her sights on the perfect husband: wealthy, respectable Colonel John Cooper. If she can capture his attention during the London season, she can give her daughter the life she deserves.
But Baron Benjamin Burnham has plans for the colonel as well.
Before his father died, Ben promised to see his younger sister safely married to his childhood friend. Inviting Colonel Cooper to stay at his London townhouse seems the perfect way to encourage the match—until Ben discovers a determined ballerina pursuing him too.
Stopping Allegra should be simple.
Yet the more Ben crosses paths with the spirited dancer, the harder it becomes to see her as the villain of his plans. Because the woman he is determined to defeat may be the very woman he cannot forget.
