I thank You, Lord of my heart, that You do not hide Yourself from me even when I run from Your presence. When my soul is restless within me, You are there to calm the storm of emotions. When my complaints imprison my mind with unsavory thoughts, You are there to alter my perspective until I see with Your eyes again. Without You, Jesus, I am unstable. Without Your Holy Spirit, I am blind. When trouble pounces upon me, causing my heart to be in anguish, I can reach for Your hand to pull me out of the pit. When foes attack me, I can take refuge in Your truth. Let my heart be forever grateful for Your relentless pursuit of Your wayward child, God. Let my soul rejoice in the One who loves with a power that transforms. Set me upon the wings of Your glory so that I can fly away into Your protective embrace, Lord. Under the Word of Psalm 55:5-8 and the authority of Christ, I pray.
Fear and trembling come upon me,
and horror overwhelms me.
And I say, “Oh, that I had wings like a dove!
I would fly away and be at rest;
yes, I would wander far away;
I would lodge in the wilderness;
I would hurry to find a shelter
from the raging wind and tempest.”
Psalm 55:5-8, ESV
