My Father in heaven, soothe me with the lullaby of truth singing off the pages of Scripture. For I lift my pain like a candle in the darkness, waiting for mercy’s light to re-ignite the flame of faith within me. May my self-affirming will be silenced in the midst of Your beautiful voice of comfort, falling like a mist upon my weary soul. I long to be distanced from the petty pretensions of this life in the world. For I am prepared for a paradise through the suffering You enable me to endure. Birth within me a sense of indictment as Your Word is spoken so that truth can truly be received. Etch Your breath upon my heart. Do not let me suffocate in selfish desire. I am incomplete and utterly empty in my cluttered existence without You. Bring me back from the land of distraction that has captured me, Lord. Remove from me the focused pursuit of lesser things that have lured me with the illusion of being everything. You are what I need. You are what I desire. You are enough. Thank You, Jesus, for Your soothing presence in my every day. Under the Word of truth in 2 Corinthians 1:5 and the authority of Christ Jesus, I pray.
For as we share abundantly in Christ’s sufferings,
so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too.
