My Lord, move my heart to make a Kingdom contribution when my feet are stuck in the mire of selfishness. By the power of Your Holy Spirit, safeguard me against the subtle idols of this world that clamor for my worshipful attentions. Forgive me, Lord, for I am prone to bow down to lesser things. Let my iniquity be pardoned by the touch of grace’s shadow. In the shelter of Your wings, I take refuge. Move me toward the power of Your inheritance in which I gain energy and strength. Jesus, drench me with living water that will satisfy my parched soul. For I love the undiluted purity of Your Word. I delight in the truth as You lift it off the page of Holy Scripture so that it floats into my heart. Embed the tendrils of the vine reaching into my soul when I open Your beautiful Word each day. God, I delight in You. Move my soul to become Your Kingdom ambassador. Under the Word of truth in Luke 4:8 and the authority of Christ, I pray.
And Jesus answered him, “It is written,
“‘You shall worship the Lord your God,
and him only shall you serve.’”
Luke 4:8, ESV
