My Lord and Teacher, I come to You in need of Your lessons. I am a perpetual student who lacks wisdom when I stray from Your presence. Draw me near to Yourself Lord, as You invite me into the mine of Your Holy Word. Show me where to dig for the treasures You have hidden within. Guide me through the field fraught with dangerous distractions and worldly suppositions. Only through the interpretative teaching of Your Spirit can my soul truly understand and absorb the nutrients of wisdom that it needs. Grant me a deep and abiding hunger to feast upon Your Word each day. Expound upon the things about Yourself, Jesus, that will enhance my relationship to You. Help me to gather the invaluable pearl of sweet love hidden within the written letter. You, Lord, are the Word made flesh. Etch Yourself upon my ignorant heart until it beats to wisdom’s rhythm. Under the beauty of Your Word in Psalm 119:10-12 and the authority of Your Name, Jesus, I pray.
With my whole heart I seek You;
let me not wander from Your commandments!
I have stored up Your Word in my heart,
that I might not sin against You.
Blessed are You, O Lord;
teach me Your statutes!
Psalm 119:10-12, ESV
