When my soul is cast down beneath the heavy burdens of life’s momentary distress, it is You who lifts my face, Lord God. Within the light of Your presence, my heart finds the relief of peace. Spread abroad Your joy in my being, Jesus. For though circumstances perplex me, the eternal perspective which is my inheritance in Christ offers clarity to my soul. When the strength of my spirit runs dry, infuse me with the Living Water that is You. My tear-filled eyes glisten with hope when I look upon the face of my God. When I find refuge by running into the fortress of Your Word, the flaming arrows of sorrow cannot pierce the depths of my heart. In Your grace, Lord God, claim the pieces that belong solely to You. Lead me out of my solitude of wallowing and into the light of fellowship with my Heavenly Father. Guide me into perfect holiness until we are one in both joy and sorrow. Under the beautiful comfort of the Word in Psalm 56:8 and the authority of Christ, I pray.
