In the pre-dawn hours when the darkness first kisses the light of day, You are God of that space. When the midnight hour blankets every weary soul with a longing for sleep, You are God of that lullaby. Where the mountain reaches for the atmosphere, You are there to revive its touch, O God. Where the valley dips down so as to create a descent into the depths, Your reach extends to the lowest point. So, who else would my soul cry out to for guidance? There are further horizons which beckon the Spirit within me. Only You can bring me through the deepest darkness, can settle me on the beams of starlight, and can take my mind into places it dare not attempt alone. Lord, touch the motives that move me. Birth the dreams I have yet to understand. Search me, my God, so that anything undesirable is winnowed away until only Your likeness remains. God, be my God. Be the King of my horizons. Under the beauty of Your Word in 1 John 1:5-7 and the authority of Christ, I pray.
This is the message which we have heard from Him and announce to you,
that God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all.
If we say that we have fellowship with Him and walk in the darkness,
we lie, and don’t tell the truth.
But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light,
we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ,
His Son, cleanses us from all sin.
