Today’s Prayer

My Lord and my God, I lean into You when the distresses of my heart are many. I embrace Your presence when my cup overflows with plenty. I quietly adore You in the mundane and ordinary moments of life. There is no place I would prefer than to abide with You, God. Our fellowship is the healing for the woes of earthly sorrow. Though I be lifted to a pinnacle of honor, let me remain in the valley of humiliation if You are not by my side. There is no worldly success my heart desires if You would not be glorified in it, Lord. For I am not content to succumb to a whirlwind of distraction that diminishes my ability to abide in sweet solitude with You. I abhor the thought of my ears becoming deaf to the intimate counsel of my soul’s Lover. Jesus, keep me near You when I am being pulled in directions contrary to Your will. By the power of love divine, let the tether of faith never be broken by the weakness present in my mortal existence. Turn to ash anything within me that is not worthy of You. Keep my adoring worship of You warm by the fire of Your heart, Lord God. Under the Word You have given in Hebrews 12:28-29 and the authority of Christ, I pray.

Since we are receiving a Kingdom that is unshakable,
let us be thankful and please God by worshiping Him with holy fear and awe.

For our God is a devouring fire.
Hebrews 12:28-29, NLT

  1. I quietly adore You in the mundane and ordinary moments of life-liturgical calendar calls most of church year ordinary time–this means we worship and serve Him mostly in and through ordinary time, days that are not church holidays. We can worship an extraordinary God in each ordinary moment.
