My Lord, what a blessedly sweet indulgence is this communion with You in the secret place. My spirit quickens in anticipation of prayer’s rendezvous. My soul finds quiet peace in the posture of listening for the voice of the One who created me. Use whatever tools You deem necessary, Holy Spirit, to cut down the briers of ambivalence and chisel down the thorns of rebellion which diminish the life You have given me. Only You can turn over the soil of my heart and make it ready for heavenly planting. Lord God, I cry out to You because only You have the power to snap the chain that binds me through pursuing worldly pleasure. Yet, in Christ, my Savior, I have been set free from the tether of trivial passions. Nothing but soaring high upon the celestial promises of Your Word satisfies me now. May my soul find consolation as it daily takes flight within the pages of Your written love. For it is in this secret place that my untethered soul relishes freedom which only comes from being bound to Him who set me free. Under the Word of grace in Galatians 5:1 and the authority of Christ, I humbly pray.
It was for freedom that Christ set us free;
therefore keep standing firm
and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.
Galatians 5:1, NASB
My soul finds quiet peace in the posture of listening for the voice of the One who created me–Lord, help me to quiet down and listen!
