When loneliness spreads out like a desert within my heart, my God I cry out to You because You are the planter of good seeds. Grow faith within me until it produces a crop of joy a hundred-fold. Drive me from the fruitless pursuits of lesser gods that clamor for my attention. For in Christ, I have more riches than the wealth of this world offers. Beneath Your canopy of goodness, I have more protection than worldly security promises. In Your embrace, I am more thoroughly loved than I could ever be within the most intimate of unions with another person. Forgive me, Lord, for my forgetfulness. The deception of mis-perceived emptiness is prevalent in my affluent lifestyle. There is nothing I need besides You. There is no desire that can fulfill me like my desire for Your presence. Take control of the land that stretches out within me like a desert. Turn it into a promised land, a garden, of the soul that blossoms with the fragrant life of Christ. Under the canopy of the Word given in Matthew 13:31-32 and the authority of Christ, I bow before the King in humble prayer.
“The Kingdom of Heaven is like a mustard seed planted in a field.
It is the smallest of all seeds, but it becomes the largest of garden plants;
it grows into a tree, and birds come and make nests in its branches.”
Matthew 13:31-32, NLT
