My Sovereign King, how lamentable are my excuses; how distorting are my priorities. Empower me to turn holy intention into divinely empowered action. When You lead me to acts of kindness, equip me with the means to extend that portion of Your heart to one who is in need. When You reveal to me the way of escape from the pit of temptation, make me move the feet of my soul in Your direction and away from sin. My heart delights to know You are watching and waiting for me. My soul rests because You have covered me with mercy that reminds me how fleeting every moment of choice is. Help me to choose right in a world of wrong. Help me to desire holiness in a culture of self-indulgence. Shadows gather and night falls, but I seek the light where the Lord of love calls. Under the Word of power in 1 Peter 1:2 and the authority of Christ Jesus, I bow in prayerful worship.

God the Father knew you and chose you long ago,
and His Spirit has made you holy.
