Lord, at times I feel as if this battle is mine alone. When the power of Your presence is masked beneath an onslaught of deception, I fear I will lose my strength. Valiantly arm Your beloved in this war to preserve holiness. You are the Commander of my soul. You are the defense of my heart. Help me to stand fast and hold the ground You have allotted to me. Though my spirit fails me at times, let it never fail You, my Lord and King. Grant boldness to my voice which is muted beneath the louder shouts of selfish desire. Infuse my weak hands with strength that will serve the poor and bind up the broken in Your Name. Enable me to see You in the midst of the fight. Though I feel as if the battle is mine alone, tilt my soul upward to remind me that the war is dependent on You, not me; that victory has already been won by You, not dependent on me. So, let me take back stolen ground with worship and praise as my battle strategy. Let me conquer darkness with the light of peace and joy as my weapons. In You, I have been given all that I need. In You, I do not fear the war, knowing that whatever battle You have placed before me is for my good. Under the Word in 1 Samuel 17:47 and the authority of Christ, I lay these prayers upon the altar.
All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword
or spear that the Lord saves;
for the battle is the Lord’s, and He will give all of you into our hands.
1 Samuel 17:47, NIV
You are the defense of my heart–Thank God!
