My heavenly Father, let the wind of Your Spirit blow the sails of my soul across waters of peace in the midst of any storm. Vanquish the fear that I wrestle with. For death has lost its sting. My heart may welcome with delight the lifting of the exile, the completion of the banishment, that releases me home. Grant me the power to leave a legacy across the wearying winds of this life – a legacy that only points to life in Christ. Set the eyes of my heart upon the haven of heaven as You set my course and captain my vessel. With You I can rejoice in the destruction of the evil one who consistently taunted me with empty promises and subtle lies of condemnation. In You I can walk un-shackled and free in Christ to do the will of the Father. It is with intense delight that I abide in You, Jesus. It is with sweet submission that I find my rest in Your presence. Let there be no long, intervening stretch between death’s swift sword and the first breath of heaven’s glory. Teach me, Lord Jesus, to breathe in Your holiness. Prepare me for the return home. Upon my departure, let me leave a wake of love in Your Name. Under the Word of testimony in 1 Corinthians 15:25-26 and the authority of Christ, I pray.
For He must reign until He has put all His enemies under His feet.
The last enemy to be destroyed is death.
1 Corinthians 15:25-26, NIV
